"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
(Luke 2,14)

Dear members of our community and friends,

As you know we are very close to the holy day of our Jesus Christ birth. As always, we, Romanians, cannot imagine Christmas without carols; holy hymns of praise to God who has mercy on the world by sending His Son Jesus Christ. Thus, our community choir members were able to bring a touch of holy joy in the hearts of those present at the concert on Saturday, December 10th, like angels, whose song was heard at the birth of the Savior.

For those who didn't make it on Saturday and for those who would like to see the choir again we have a number of photos and videos.

Our history
Good Lord willing, at the end of the year 2008, in Aberdeen opened the first Romanian Orthodox Church, under the patronage of Father Rev Marcel Oprisan, made with the help of God and of the Romanian community here. Community, though low in number, managed to offset with faith. People, though busy with job, family, housework, always had time for church and with humility arranged a church hall given by their friends at St. John's Episcopal Church. We thank God and those He chose to work through, Rev Isaac and Tony, their generosity be rewarded. After more than a year after the first service, His Eminence Joseph, Metropolitan of Western and Southern Europe has blessed our parish with his presence. It was the first visit of a Romanian Orthodox bishop in Northern Scotland and the first Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with the participation of an Orthodox metropolitan. His Holiness inaugurated our Orthodox parish dedicated to "Sts .Joachim and Ana" and appointed Father Rev Gabriel Hlade as parish priest.

EVENT
Saturday, December 17, our community has experienced moments of spiritual joy occasioned by the baptism of our friend Craig. It is the third time we have here in our church in Aberdeen such a special event, the return to the Orthodoxy of a Scottish. Through the Sacrament of the Holy Baptism Craig received the name of Andrew. Here are some photos of the baptism.
